Workshop, Artist in Residency and Professional Fees
The Architecture Resource Center (ARC) provides workshops and residencies in architecture and the design arts. Teachers learn about the power of the arts to transform education and become comfortable working with the arts and arts language. The interdisciplinary approach helps students find meaning and connections among disciplines such as math, science, humanities, and the arts.
ARC Master teaching Artists engage students in units of study involving projects and activities centered in the students neighborhoods and community through an examination of architecture, design, and urban planning. The design projects involve site analysis and programming, brainstorming and concept development, drawing and model construction, team work, and written and oral presentation of ideas.
Requirements: Flip chart, overhead projector, student journals, drawing and model-making materials, as required per project.
Audience: All ages
Fees: General: $350 one-half day and $600 full day; week-long residencies are $2,500 and up. Prices are negotiable and funding ($1,000) is available for workshops through the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism Arts Presentation Grantline.
